Any suggestions what to do about this.?

About twice a week I walk out my gate and there's a steaming great big pile of dog shite been left there. I'm starting to get well f***** off at having to clean it up or treading in it. Anyone got any suggestions as to how I could:-

1. Find out who's doing it without sitting watch at the window for days on end.

2. What to do to about when I do (not including physical violence)

Serious answers only please (Yeah I know there's probably no end of highly amusing puns to be made) this is a serious question.

You can buy some "Get off crystals" put them down after pouring boiling water on the area. Sounds like this patch has become the local dogs toilet. You need to eradicate the scent then deter any future visits.

I can't think of any way you can find out who is allowing their dog to do this, apart from, as you said, sitting there keeping watch all day long. But if you do find out, perhaps you could take a dump outside their gate on the way home from having an indian meal!?

Look into getting a mini cctv camera rigged up, you can buy them quite cheap now, and theyll record onto your dvd or vhs recorder!!! when you catch them, report them to the local council (dog fouling) dept!!

Pour bleach on the pavement or scatter those crystals that go off when you tread on them. You can get them from jokeshops. Trust me. It'll soon stop.

Or, install a very powerful outside light with the sensor pointing at the gate...

There is a sign in a yard here in town that states.

"if it poops, scoop it up."  

I would be going to my Home Owners Association about the continued problem.  They will take care of it.

If you don't have a HOA, get a security camera to put out there that you can attach to your computer or an old tv that you can monitor.  Make sure you can record the evidence.  then approach the neighbor in a kind manor and tell him.  Please, I don't c**p on your front door step, so please keep you dog from crapping on mine.  

There are laws that state a dog owner must "pick it up when the dog goes" check your city ordinence.  Call the Humane socieity, and ask them.  But I would find out who is doing it, and approach them.

If I was you I would but a notice on the gate which said please take your dog's poo home or train your dog to poo at home.

When I had my dog I trained her not to poo in the street every time she squatted I pulled her on she soon learnt that the place to poo was at home.

sprinkle unused coffee grounds along your property.  this should take care of that party pooper.
