Any themed ideas for a pre-school end-of-school-year picnic?

The invitation asked that each family bring 2 dishes to pass. I am going to make my version of a veggie pizza (crescent roll crust, ranch/creamcheese/sourcream, veggies and cheese), but I am looking for a cute school-themed idea for my second dish...any cute, creative ideas??

  1. This recipe makes 6 servings, so you could adjust it for the number of servings you'll need

    A Is For Apple Salad

    1/2 cup sugar

    2 tablespoons cornstarch

    1-1/4 cups orange juice

    1/2 teaspoon orange extract

1 can (20 ounces) pineapple tidbits, drained

1 can (11 ounces) mandarin oranges, drained

1 medium tart green apple, chopped

    1 medium red apple, chopped

1 cup each seedless red and green grapes, halved

In a saucepan, combine sugar and cornstarch. Stir in the orange juice until smooth. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Remove from the heat; stir in orange extract. Cool. In a large serving bowl, combine the pineapple, oranges, apples and grapes. Add dressing; stir gently. Cover and refrigerate until serving.

  2. These don't have to be for a B'Day party....

  3. For some reason Taquitos (link below) came to mind and I thought you could tie something edible(cooked pasta or licorice) around the middle and make it look like a Graduation scroll.

Even if they aren't graduating it goes with the school theme you have =)

  4. You could make Rice Krispie treats, but use Alpha-Bits cereal instead .....

  5. you can make cup cakes with any color frosting then with another color over it you can put the first letter of there name or any letter of the alphabet. have fun!

  6. dirt pudding!

use chocolate pudding; layer either in little glasses or in a big casserole pan with crushed chocolate cookies (some people use oreos, i use chocolate graham crakers) and get gummy worms to stick in the top.

it's easy to make that recipe a little healthier or low in sugar by getting low fat/low sugar alternatives

  7. Pencil Cup cakes! Make normal cupcakes, then when done top Icing over them. Then stick an ice cream cone on top (Open hole down) and icing over them so they look like pencils.

Finger Sandwhiches....just like mom used to make!
