  1. I think the population difference is more or less a negligible difference. Perhaps 52% women 48% men, and since womens average lifespan is longer by about 5-10 years, that would account for the minor difference...

  2. Men are special, we are the enhanced sub-species.

  3. The wars.....over the centuries, men have gone to fight wars while women stayed home.  Many men did not return.

  4. And WOMEN inherit the earth...Mwahh ha ha ha hah ahahahaaaaahaahhhaaaaaa...

  5. To many men have died in all the wars.

  6. In addition to the theories offered above, (men find more ways to die young, women live longer) There are slightly more girls born than boys due to the fact that some men can only father girls, not boys.

Locally, of course, there can be a huge deviation from the world-wide norm.

  7. Do you mean on this site or in the world-wide population? World wide there's not a great difference, and people have suggested valid reasons above. On this site or rather this section of the site I don't think it's 10+ girls to boys exactly. Maybe there are more girls because the issues raised here often affect girls more than boys (i.e. abortion laws, "submissive" women etc) so girls might feel the need to express an opinion more often.

  8. There are slightly more females born than males. Female fetuses and newborns are hardier and tend to have a slight survival edge over males.

More males than females die of crib death/sudden infant death syndrome.
