Question:

Any thoughts on black ceramic cooktops?

I bought a new range two years ago, with a black ceramic cooktop. This has been the most labor-intensive appliance I have owned in 30+ years. I hate it! Maybe if I'd taken one with the gray cooktop (of which there are too few, I might add), I would have been better off. I have a permanent fair-sized rough spot on one of the large burners - looks like it's imbedded in the ceramic, as it will not come off, no matter what I do. Anybody else experience problems?

  1. I clean homes professionally and I have not seen one of these stoves without some kind of problem.   I don't think it matters what color it is.  Even after I have successfully gotten all the burnt c**p off there seems to be bubbles in the glass.  I had always wanted one of these but I have changed my mind, they are even more of a hassle.  Have you tried using a scrubbing cleanser like Comet and a Scotch Bright pad?  I have had the best outcome with these.

  2. I hear too many cons about these , I understand your frustration! Honestly speaking ! I would never get one . If you can replace it with something easier to maintain ,some of these things are made for kitchens that are rarely or never used , it's all cosmetic .
