Any thoughts on the controversial topic of Evolution v. Creationism?

I am doing a research paper for my English class, and I'm looking for opinions of all kinds. No opinions will be shunned, i want information from both sides. Me? I am an evolutionist, but I insist in considering each side of an argument. Please, if you can, give me links for source info! thanks alot! (i will give credit where credit is due if your answer is quoted in my essay, i promise!)

  1. Ask this question is in Religion & Spirituality and you are gaurunteed 30+ very opinionated opinions.

  2. Read Dawkins's The God Delusion - he pretty much demolishes all possible arguments for Creationsim and Intelligent Design, while at the same time presenting them at some length.

  3. Creationism refuses to accept the theory of evolution because they, as a collective, seem to resent the implication that 10's of millions of years, for reasons yet to be determined, there was an genitic mutatuion, that resulted in our seperation from apes that has resulted to the continued evolution to definition of homo sapiens. Their refusal is truly a mystery to me.  Evolution is an ongoing process responsible for all the existing species on our planet.  Personally, I have no problem with creationism.  If there is some breakthrough of enlighenment that results in creationists resistance to their resentment  and refusal of acceptance that the existing members of our species result from that change of our split from apes, I believe they can accept that perhaps, their concept of god is responsible for that.  I truly do not understand the competition and resistance existing between the two theories.  I have acquaintences who are scientists, who while accepting evolution as the process of selective necessity for the survival of the existing global species, do do accept the possibility that there was a divine creative intent.  That is, however, not proovable.  But just quit the silly bickering.  Creationists really need acceptance for their theories of divine intent.  I do accept everyone's theory.  I have mine, and am not treatened by any alternatives.  So, y'all my suggestion is that acception of differences is the meaning of one of the ten commandants, "Love thy neighbor as thyseld.".

  4. There are those of us who bride the two.  Enough now that it has a name.  It's called theistic evolution.  If you'd like to read more about it go to http://www.theistic-evolution.com/  Very simply put God created us through the process of evolution in his image.

  5. I am a Creationist and to put things plain and simple, there are too many wonders on this earth to have just happened by chance...another good argument...if we were monkeys, why are there still monkeys?

  6. Evolution is creationalism.  God is still creating.

  7. Evolution is not controversial.  There are no scientific arguments against it.  There are some religious people who try to sound scientific by twisting logic and misrepresenting the facts.  Evolution was a done deal even without the overwhelming genetic data.  The fossil evidence is clear proof that animals have changed over time and apparently evolved and radiated from earlier forms.  The genetic data, particularly in the D-loop of the mitochondrial DNA, is unbiased mathematical proof that different species share common ancestors.  It completely negates all arguments to the contrary unless you resort to the silly notion that the evidence was put there to test your faith.

  8. There is alot of info out there. Here is the Catholic:

  9. Dear Lil,

In all honesty I don't see the controversy.

Creationism tells us who made the universe.

    Evolution tells us the "how".
