Any tips about Zakynthos, Greece?

Question

Have you ever been there? if so, are there any special rules need to know, customs to follow, best places to visit or generally anything else about the island and also its airport.

I'm off for a 1 week break there tomorrow, on the south of the island - resort kalamaki.

The Caretta-Caretta  sea turtles there are a real site. They're an endangered species, and can only be seen in and around that area in the Mediterranean Sea.

Have a swim at the wide sandy beaches in the company of sea turtles, go snorkelling or scuba diving between rocks and in underwater caves.

Kalamaki is nice.maybe not the best but nice

Don't visit Laganas because its full of drunken people.

As a person originate from Zakynthos I ll tell you what I find as must-do things

1)Visit Vasilikos and Gerakas for sure.Nice and clean beaches and popular

2)arrange an island-tour ,you ll be able to visit fantastic beaches as Navagio

3) go to bachali and eat some local sweet or icecream.

the view (at night) from the city is really nice

4) taste some locals products suck as pasteli (sesami honey candy) or kokora krasata (chicken with tomatosauces and wine,which is really nice)

for me,these are the must-do for a foreigner.

Tips:

taxi is expensive enough,if you afford better rent a car,you ll be able to make a tour at the island by yourself
