  1. go.

  2. The ccost of living depends on which area you are going to.  The most expensive place to live is Auckland(my home town) everywhere else is cheaper.  Abundance of job opportunities. When you get here, log onto seek.co.nz they have thousands of jobs available for kiwis.  Also we love people immigrating to our country, it brings diversity into our culture.  I don't know what points system is, never heard of it.  We probably don't have it.  You can bring a pet, only if its a normal pet(dog cat etc) do not try to bring a snake or polar bear, you will not be allowed in. If you want to know anymore just give me a buzz.

  3. I am in the process of immigrating there now from the US, but I'll be on partnership because my husband is a citizen.  We've found this site: www.emigratenz.org to be very helpful.  Also, the NZ immigration people are very friendly and helpful if you have general immigration questions: 011-649-914-4100 x. 6

I don't see where you're immigrating from (USA?), but I've found that cost of living is more expensive than the US, especially because the salaries are much lower (we'll have our US salaries basically cut in half).  Most work opportunities will fall in the main cities of Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington.  I've found goods are way more expensive (shoes, furniture) but services are way cheaper (haircuts, photographers) but that means you'll earn less there.  Most people recommend taking everything you can with you because it will be more expensive to replace.

So, if you don't mind a small margin in your income for all the benefits of New Zealand, have fun!  Otherwise, you can try to do what we're doing and get a remote contract job with a US company as a nice transition to the different income and cost of living.
