Any tips for Del Mar ?

It seems the combination of trainer AC Avila and jockey Omar Berrio win a race on opening day.  Usually the last one and usually at odds of 6/1 or more..

1.Bet on jockey trainer combos......

2.Take an interest to horses who can sustain a mid turn move because the track seems to be tiring based on the meet last year don't know if its loosened up a bit or not.

3.Look for horses who know how to drop back and sit off the pace(especially in an ideal pace scenario)

4.Don't look too deep into how much pace is in the race because the way that the track played last year,it didnt matter how slow you went if you didnt have the best horse you would get ran over and end up last and usually the fastest of the fast has an advantage in the sprints,

5.Key tip:Bet with mind and not with your head because if you allow the two to clash, it can result in a sad day at the track.

Del Mar no longer has the conventional dirt surface, so the horses race on Polytrack.  Therefore, track conditions don't matter so much.  What matters is whether a horse can run on the surface, and if they can take to Del Mar's shorter stretch - remember, most of the horses just came from Hollywood Park which is a bigger track.

Horses that win early at Del Mar often take advantage of the fabled "jet stream" - making their run during the turn for home.  Once adjustments are made by trainers, jockeys, etc., then the track evens out.  There can be some good longshots there, though, I stay stick with the **horse for course** theory.

Well I like to look at 2 yr old that have been layed off for a while and some older ones also

DelMar is good for long shots , the track is softer , and sometimes get muddy and really bad so fast times won't really matter ,

Again look for the 2 yr olds that have been off and older 3-4 yr olds also,,
