Yes!  Do some homework.  I answered something about blackjack in your other question.  Rule #1.  Have fun.  It's your first time and the odds are really stacked against you so if you go with the intention of having fun and drinking a couple beers and listening to music etc.,  Don't spend more than what you can afford.  You should be able to have a great time for less than $200.  Don't play the machines.  Anything that has electricity running through it is bad.  Craps and blackjack off the best odds, unless you're skilled at poker.  If you go there with the intention of having fun and you have fun then you won.  If you start going weekly and losing a lot of cash, the casino wins.  Good luck!

Dont play the slot machines, table games have much bettor return rates, if you do play the slot machines play higher denomination pulls as the return rates are higher for a 1$ machine than they are for a 1cent machine.

Blackjack has the best odds in the casino if you play perfect strategy but one of the worst if you play like a fool, get a basic strategy card from one of the shops in the casinos or practice and learn at hitorstand.net and play blackjack for at the table minimums, mathematically you will be expecting to lose about 4 dollars per hour which is trivial and well worth the fun you will probibly have.

To put things into perspective slot machines have returns of 75-98% with the majority being closer to 75%

while table games have returns that vary from 97%-99.6%

stay away from side bets on table games like insurance or lucky ladies or whatever you may see.

Definately get a comp card as you will get free food and such.

Dont chase your losses, set a limit for both winning and losing.

You dont have to bet 1000s of dollars to have fun you can play seemingly forever with about 500 bucks most of the time, so go for the fun of it not for getting rich because its very unlikely you will.

Make sure you get a mempership card and use it in the slots everytime because this will add up to points,  for free play ,meals and other prizes. Also when you first apply for the card ask them if they will comp. you a free buffet meal. Also if you do play slots and it call for one to three quarters. Make sure that you put in the maxinum ammount because if you hit and you only put one coin in. it will not pay you jackpot. Have fun!

Yes! Most important is word of mouth, friends, casino friends,  people you know that frequent many casinos, the more the better. For me I wouldn't have known about Harrahs first time visitor benefit (i'll get back to this) if i hadn't mentioned i wanted to go south to (san diego county) to a small casino  i'd heard about with lots of penny slots that were just like the ones i like to play locally (Inland Empire) but here they are 25cent slots. My casino friend said since you're gonna go all the way down there, might as well stop by harrahs,they'll match your slot play for the first half hour up to $100. for new players. i spent my first half hour at harrahs playing higher end slots (hoping to win big, of course). they don't give it to you the same visit however approx. 3 wks later i recieved a coupon from harrahs for $100. i took it back to harrahs my next trip, put the coupon in a machine cashed it out, then happily continued my trip. it was a nice surprise. if you live far from the casinos its wise and sometimes profitable to research the points, some casinos give you multiable values for points on certain times, days etc. you might have just visited instead of making a point of visiting that casino at that particular time or day. I'm just a devoted gambler without much of a life.

Get the card and generally stay away from the slots.  Black Jack and video poker are two of the best odds for the players.  Read about the games you are going to play, and play them for free online to learn a little bit about them.  

If you fancy yourself a poker player, play in the poker room, they generally are a good place to win money if you know how to play.  

If you are going to try to win a little bit, DON'T DRINK, casinos are in the business to make money, and like the saying goes, "nothing in this life is free" especially the free drinks....buzzing means your judgement is impaired.

Leave your charge card, atm card and extra cash in your room, only play with what you can afford to loose.  If you are tired, irratable, drunk, horny or anything else other than attentive, go to a show, see the sights...just stay out of the casino.

Temptation is the biggest money maker for the casino, long odd bets are just that ...LONG ODD BETS, stay away from them.  Be nice and courtious to the dealers etc...tip  and they will give you pointers, the more you win, the more you tip, and that is how they make most of their money.  

I know I have already said this, but it is very important, learn the games you want to play before you go to the casino, read, watch them on t.v. and talk to people you know who have done good at them.  Gambling is nothing more (everything but poker) than knowing the math and applying the math, so know the math.

Lastly, and this contradicts something I said earlier, if you just want a rush, get you a whole mess of quarters, get on a loose slot machine, take the free drinks and blow some change....you might just hit the jackpot... Good Luck
