Any tips for buying a jet ski?

I'm a complete novice but I want something with a bit of power..Are they expensive to repair, are the parts expensive and what do I look out for when buying? budget of about a grand

You're going to need alot more money than that.  You'll want to take a safety course (would you ride a motorcycle without lessons?) and probably some insurance.

For a 1000 pounds you are not going to get much of a jet ski.!!!

Buy the following as well... A harness for a radio, waterproof mobile phone case, Flares, a helmet, life jacket, if gonner be near others some sort of impact protection incase you fall and get knocked over. A flourcesnt dyd pack for the chopper., A inflatable sauage so you can get scene in waves.

You will also need a lot more cash.

Oh and the trailor for you car, the wetsuit and a suitable car.

Goggles or a visor on said helmet which has good visability on the sides so you dont crash
