Question:

Any tips for going to a cuban resort by myself?

I didn't get the answer that I was looking for so I'm going to ask this question again:

I am a 22 year old student who is planning on going to a resort in Cuba alone. I've been to Cuba twice before with a woman that use to be my best friend. On both trips she has ditched me for men. Even when we are here in Canada, she always ditches me for her boyfriend. I was so fed up that I decided to book a trip by myself to Cuba.

I love the country, the culture and the people over there and it's a pretty safe country, my other friends can't afford to go. So I was wondering if anybody has ever been to a resort by themselves? How was it and any tips?

  1. Well, many years ago, we went and made relationship with a group of poles. Very nice people

I had to use the english, but besides, I know a little bit of the country and the language

  2. buy travelers checks, you loose less money that way

  3. Cuba is quite safe even for single female travelers. I think off resort is much more fun if you are alone since everyone at the resort seems to be with "their people."

My tip: Don't fall in love with any of the tourism employees.

  4. I went to Cuban resort as a single female about 10 years ago, when I was 22, and I'm going again in two weeks (pending all these hurricanes!). I had no problems at all. I don't remember being harassed by locals, but maybe that was because I was hanging out with a Canadian guy that I met and his dad

  5. i had the same problem with my friends so i'm going alone too .

i dont know when spring break is as im in the uk but email me we might be able to meet out there joannev16@hotmail.co.uk

    im 23, female

  6. I personally haven't been alone...I preferred being accompanied. BUT, it wouldn't be a problem going alone. You will never be left out of anything. The Staff will always make sure you are enjoying yourself and will keep you busy with fun things (if you want). I've seen many who have gone alone and have never been lonely :-)

If you have already gone to Cuba before, maybe you can go to the same place if you've made friends there. The staff usually remembers those whom they've made great friends with.

Also, if you're going during Spring Break, you'll meet so many different people. Cuba isn't the type of place where people shut others out. They like to include everyone and make them feel welcome and at home.

You'll be fine and will enjoy yourself...truly.

And as a girl, just be smart and careful in every way even though Cuba is safe for single female travellers. Don't go anywhere alone if not necessary....but that's only if you are unsure of your surroundings. Just know your surroundings.

One more thing...even though Spring break is a busy time and there are a lot of people the same age, be careful not to get mixed up in 'craziness'. I've seen a lot of things people can do when they let themselves be uninhibited...so stay smart and safe.

  7. pay in chavitos...always check prices first when ordering a drink then you can't be ripped off....In hotels always use a safety deposit box (if there is one) and never leave money/passports/credit cards lying around during the day...Do not change money in the streets! Although they tell quite reasonable sounding stories why they can offer better rates, it’s a fraud in most or all cases. You must only do it in banks, hotels and CADECAs kiosks.

  8. By all means don’t be nervous about going solo.  Cuba offers many resorts with no single supplement although that might not be the case during Spring break.  I’ve been nine times  and planning on my tenth trip in December, all solo.  Although my resort of choice is Sol Rio Luna y Mares, Holguin, I’m much older than you and it tends to attract an older crowd.  My suggestion would be you consider Varadero  since it seems to have a younger  following,  there’s an active night life right in town with discos etc. Which you might enjoy.  The beauty of  going alone is of course you get up when you want to, go to bed when you choose to do so, party on your schedule take tours and other activities as you wish.   A lady friend of mine is making suggestions that we go together this year but I’ll stick with the solo bit;  believe me you’ll meet many others in the same situation.  Don’t be shy though, introduce yourself to others and chances are very good you’ll find many people to enjoy spending some quality time with.Edit:  Before you book, check the reviews of the resort you are considering on trip advisor.  It may help you make a decision.

  9. I think you should get another fiancee
