  1. Greater leg strength. Twice a week do a good strength workout.  This will increase your stride length,

I surprised myself and beat my 16 year old daughter on a some uphill 100m sprints just 4 months after heart bypass surgery.

I had been doing step-ups with weights, up to 50 lbs. These are good because you find out if both legs have equal strength. Both improve, and even out.

Carry a friend piggy back occasionally.  That will also make you stronger.

  2. run faster?

  3. Bleachers and hill training...Plyometrics...Both will increase your strength, stride length, and over all speed...
