  1. Just keep reading...and studying the ACT books for tips/tricks on doing better as well as trying LOTS of practice tests

  2. First, don't sell yourself short, maybe you were just lucky on the last one.

Next,  check with your school counselor to see if your school offers any type of act practice courses.  You can also check with the community colleges in your area and see if they offer ACT reviews.  There is a fee for these, but it is reasonable.  If you have a big budget you might want to check with your school counselors or in the yellow pages for independent test prep programs.

Some schools super score.  This means they look at all the times you take the ACT and choose your highest score in reading, math, English, science and average them together.  I think your composite score the last time was a 22.  If your school super scores your composite will be a 24 or 25.

Finally, it may be significant that your lowest tests were the last two you took this last time.  Did you get plenty of rest the night before this last test; did you eat breakfast the morning of the test; were you on any medication?  Good luck

  3. I was never very good at reading, only got about a 20-21, but the science I do have some advice on.

DO NOT TRY TO UNDERSTAND THE SCIENCE. Much of it has very complicated, and very over the top wording. Very few of the questions require you to understand the science behind it.

The science section is mostly about being able to read graphs. If you can look at the diagrams, and match keywords with the answers, most likely you can improve your score.

I took the test 3 times. The first time I tried to read deeply into all the science questions, and ended up not even finishing the science section. I got a grand total of a 26 on it. I had someone tell me to stop reading so deeply, and just check out the graphs and the vocab words. The next 2 times I took the test I got a 30, and then a 31 on the science. MAJOR improvement.

Reading is just tough. The only thing I can say is to read a lot and try to get your comprehension up. I had a 31 overall on my ACT and still couldnt muster more than a 23 on the reading even after study sessions 4 times a week. Its just plain hard.
