Any tips for moving a couch off a first floor balcony?

I have bought a second hand couch which must be moved off the balcony of a first floor apartment. There is a carport directly beneath. Anyone got any tips on what sort of gear I will need and the best way to go about this? It seems very high!

Ask how it was put there and just reverse the process.

Well, my solution would be to enlist the help of some strong male friends, tie a rope securely around the couch, have two stand on the balcony and lower the couch down to one standing on the carport roof who can guide it down. Then have all of them pass it down to each other from the carport roof...
