  1. Try to give a big release over the jumps- push the reins forward on the horse's neck. And, if you have to kick to get the 4-stride, try to sit down and put your hands back calmly to slow him down. Good luck! ♥ Just remember to always have fun! :)

  2. if you have to push for four, it sounds like your horse is either slow or his strides arent big enough. try closing your hip, using a half seat, or maybe even small spurs, if he doesnt have a problem with them.

  3. Well...if your horse isnt up to prime at home, do you really want to take him to a show and get mad at him when he messes up in front of all those people...it may not be the best experience for you.....just a thought...and maybe you should've practiced the 5 strides at home a little more? Maybe vary the amount of strides you have in between each jump during your practices so this doesnt happen again....

  4. It sounds like this is a hunter course?  I would stick to the 5 strides in each line if I were you.  It is better to go for the extra stride and ALWAYS put in the extra stride to make everything look nice and even than to push for the 4 strides and struggle to get your horse back to you after the jumps...you are also probably not gauranteed that your horse will always get the 4 strides between the jumps and could end up putting in extra little chips at the base of the jump.
