  1. okay i dont know anything about volleyball but i know a lot about cheerleading. having tumbling helps such as a back handspring. i would join a tumbling class right away if you are a beginner and learn basics such as a roundoff, backbend, etc. if you can do a backhandspring with a spot at tyrouts it will help too. otherwise if you do have tumbling skills, that alone will probably get you on a team. work on jumps such as a toe touch and pike in a mirror so you can make your jumps look really good. make sure your motions are tight at tryouts and you look like you are putting your full effort. remember to be LOUD and CONFIDENT. even if you are not the best at cheerleading, that will set you apart from the other girls. good luck!

  2. Well I'll be honest, I don't know that much about volley ball. But for both you need to be calm for the try out and not get nervous or stressed out.  For cheerleading you want to make sure you are ready to go and have your tumbling down and jumps nice and high. You want to show you can be part of a team and you work well with other people. other than that just go for it, and good luck. :)

  3. More than anything else show that you get along with others and will try anything asked of you. That's a big part of what coaches want to see. Obviously skills and potential make up most of the rest of it.

  4. volleyball and cheerleading are two completely different things!!! lol.

for volleyball focus on your playing. all the way. forget the smile or the cute hair. all your coach is going to look for is skill.

when you try out for cheerleading, its a complete 180 because now its all about perfomance. cheerleaders are performers. you want to take your facials to the max, if you think it looks rediculous, then its cheerleading! lol watch some youtube preformance tapes and i garuntee they have their smiles stretched to the max. be as loud as you can w/o squeeking. haha once i sqeaked at cheer tryouts and it was  terrible! another thing you need to do is sharp motions!!! very big deal. sharp motions can make or break you.  it is really easy to tell skill level by motions. by being sharp i mean that you need to hit each motion instead of flowing from one to another, if that makes any sense. watch yourself in a mirror so you can correct your motions. i dont know if you have ever tried out before, but if not it would probably help you to google correct motion techniques. also focus on your jumps. make sure you POINT YOUR TOES!!! i dont care if you can barely get your feet off the ground your toes should be pointed because it makes your jumps look higher and sharper! but through all of this keep a smile on. if you can you should "spirit" onto the floor or in front of your judge. whenever you finish something make sure to spirit some more. nothing big or long just a "come on, let's hear it!" or a "go rebels!" or whatever your mascot is. shout out your colors. just look proud! and dont be shy. if you act shy then the judge might think that you will get shy in front of a crowd. i mean, if you cant get loud and crazy infront of a four judges, then how are you going to do it front of a gym full of people? if they ask you to tumble, do it. dont back out becasue your scared. even if you can only do a cart wheel or a round-off points are points and they will help the final score! just do your best and have fun! the last and most important thing to do is make sure that you practice what they teach you all of the time! you should be able to do it in your sleep. how can you focus on your face and your tightness if you have to worry about if you are doing the right motions? if you do mess up dont be afraid to ask for a redo! they will understand the stress you are under!

    good luck and have fun!
