Question:

Any tips for realistic drawing?

I've been drawing for a couple years, lately, and I'm an average artist. (nothing spectacular).

I've almost got my proportions right, but my problems are shading the face, (i.e. the cheekbones, the nose).

Also, I want to draw realistic mouths. Mine just look like the usual outline of one, I would like to know how to shade it properly, and how to make it look..well...real.

My nose is also my worst problem. My eyes are decent, and my ears are kind of difficult. (I'm talking my pictures here).

Anyways, any tips for a budding artist?

Thanks

  1. There are plenty ways to improve your pictures. One example would be look in a mirror with a light coming form one angle, closely examine the different shades and try to mimic what you see in the mirror to your drawings.

Here is a website that provides videos on how to draw different facial features.

I hope that helps, good luck!

  2. try not to use any lines. think of it as where dark meets light.

  3. You might like to look at Colored Pencil Portraits Step by Step

The drawings are very realistic, and don't just cover heads!

  4. add details, like you know how your mouth has wrinkels in it? Add stuff like that.

Make sure that everything suits each other. Like your eyes are HUGE and your nose is super tiny.

add detail bye drawing indavegual hairs, or give it that whispy effect

    Hope i helped :)

  5. tracing. print some black and white pics of faces and trace. its good practice. shading? try smudging with your finger. thats a good way to start.
