Okay,so I play field hockey for my local high school.

Tryouts are saturday...

Last year we ran a mile then streched,a two miles, another two miles, sprints, indian sprints(a mile),then played actual field hockey.

Do you have any hints that can make me get through all this running without stopping.

  1. No suggestions, just keep running. then you'll be in shape to do these sort of workouts

  2. Pace yourself

Don't go too fast but don't go too slow. Just go at an easy pace and don't drink too much water or while U run, U will get cramps in ur side. Have like a sip of water before running and while ur cooling down after running, don't overdo the drinking either.

    Stretch before U run

  3. well, I'm actually a cross country runner, so i run about six or seven miles a day.

The first important thing was sneakers. You need good sneakers. If you are going to be running that much, go to a running store and get fitted for sneakers. Trust me, they make a big difference.

The second important thing is to drink a lot of water all day before you run, not just immediately before or after you run. Staying hydrated throughout the day helps prevent cramps. Another cramp preventer is bananas so if you don't eat bananas you should start having at least one a day.

The third important thing is running thing is running with a buddy. FInd someone who is at your level, and run with each other. It keeps you motivated, stops you from taking breaks, and makes the run much more enjoyable.

    I hope those help!

  4. lots of running you get use to it.  drink lots of water the night before so you stay hydrated and make sure you are replacing your electrolytes ie: gatorade.  straight water can flush all that out and you will get muscle cramps or worse pass out.

  5. Build up your endurance - run intervals:  slow run for 3 minutes, sprint for  30 seconds for 35 minutes every other day.  Do long runs at regular speeds on the other days.

  6. Any preperations should have been done already, if they were in a month I would advise that you rest for the day before the tryouts, but since that's not the case, the only thing I can say is simply pace yourself, don't try to be the fastest, if you are then great, but if not, just 'run your own race'. It's better to complete the distance than to drop out because you couldn't keep up with the pack. Hopefully the actual hockey will count for more than the other tests put together.

Edit: As for water intake, if you feel thirsty, drink... a sip before and after? That's how you dehydrate. Your body works better and longer if you give it the water it needs. Cramps have nothing to do with water intake, but oxygen delivery.

  7. O wow your in trouble..you cant get much done in a day except eat starch and drink water and buy stuff. You need comfortable clothes and good shoes for daily running. Eat plenty of starch foods and drink plenty of water. If you want you can run a distance run of about 30-1 hour. Its a just a long run and while running keeping the same pace the whole time. Also good luck and have fun!
