  1. If you are new at the sport, all you want to do is bould up your mileage. Over the summer start out running 6 times a week, first week run 2-3 miles a week for 5 days, then take an off day, then do a LSD(long slow distance run) for abould 5-6 miles(this should be about half the speed of your regular pace), then each week try to increase your mileage, but never increase more than 25% of last weeks milage. An LSD run should be about 1.5 times as long as your regular run. I did this last summer and ended up running (300 miles), which you probably should not do as a beginner, you should do about (200-250) and it help me improve alot. Good luck. Life is short, run distance!

  2. remember to hydrate.

get spikes for long distance or short distance or mid distance (whatever length you want to do).

make sure you warm-up and stretch.

    practice.

breathe correctly: in through your nose and out through your mouth.

get running shoes with proper soles to not cause shin splints.

good luck! stretching and breathing properly are the most important.

  3. this is very important...make sure that your shoes are tied...lol

true story...my son was trying out for softball, and he hadn't tied his shoes well.  they came loose and his shoe came off while he was trying to run the bases...it was really funny.

(it was hard not to laugh at him, but he was little at the time.  now that he's older i remind him of that day...lol)
