Any tips for someone going to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August?

Going to the Edinburgh Fringe for the first time so any tips from seasoned vistiors would be very welcome.

  1. The Fringe Festival is fabulous! I go every year!!

    if you are a performer, don't underestimate the power of advertising your show out on the Royal Mile.  

    If you are just visiting, try to have an open mind, it'll take you a long way.  During the festival, streets can get REALLY crowded, so if you want to get around them, be an early bird:  the festival is full of night owls.  If you prefer the busy nightlife, check out the speigeltent and speigel garden (http://www.spiegeltent.net/index.php?act... for live music, shows and beer (if you are so inclined).

    Also, there is the Book Festival and Film festival going on at the same time which are both a lot of fun.  

    lastly, there is a Fringe office on the Royal Mile with Programs and other info if you need it for picking shows and such.
