Any tips for taking care of my dwarf hamster?

Hello there i just bought a Dwarf hamster yesterday and it seems to e doing ok. Any tips for care?

I think you should change their water daily...that's what I do with mine, because I read in a book that they need to have fresh water daily.

You can also give them cotton balls. I have a dwarf hamster, and I give hime cotton balls. He doesn't eat them, he starts tearing them with his claws and teeth, then uses it as a sort of nest...

Another thing is you could get them chew toys...You can get some wood chews at PJ's pet shop, that are good for their teeth...(and they're really cheap...)

If you don't have a ball for hamster yet, you should get one, because it allows them to run around in your room safely.

You can also buy them treats at PJ's pet shop, that add a bit of flavour to their regular diet...

You can give them carrots, as long as they're well washed and are not coming straight from the fridge.

Otherwise, you're doing just fine!

Well, I've had mine for about half a year now and he doesn't eat very much so normally I refill his food every 2-3 days.  Also, they start to stink pretty quick so even though you can't wash hamsters you can dip your finger in some water and just rub it in its fur that kinda makes it cleaner.  I recommend you buy a small hamster ball and let it roll around in that.  It helps them get excersize.

Caring for any kind of hamster is usually easy... just make sure they get excercise, fill their food dish about every 3 days ( sometimes depends) and clean the cage about every 3 weeks ( some people say to clean it every 4 days for maximum happiness) if you still have questions go to a petsmart, superpetz, or Petco even if you didn't get your animal there.
