Any tips on AP classes?

Does anyone have any tips on taking AP classes? I'm taking AP world history and chemistry next year, and this is my first time taking an AP class. Thanks!

Haha, aw. I remembered my first time last year. Everyone called me the AP virgin lol. Here's a couple of tips. It's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It's just a reputation that "Advanced Placement classes" must uphold by scaring students into thinking that it's the hardest and most challenging courses in high school. The reality is that it isn't too bad, and if you are a hardworker, the course will not be hard at all. The only thing about it is that there is a lot of work to do, sometimes not all necessary work, but they are work that you must complete. Try not to fall behind too far and just try to enjoy the experience! Good luck!

you have to study a lot, do not slack at all or else you will regret it. listen to the teacher, if the teacher sucks, then read read read your textbook...don't plan on having much of a social life if you want a 4 or a 5 on the AP test. :]

Go out and get AP review books from your local bookstore, typically a big name like borders will have some. Check them first to find ones that you like, most people like ones with practice tests in the back. Getting those and studying a long with them will greatly help you and notice too that your textbook will not line up perfectly with your review book just compensate for it.

Taking AP classes for the first time might seem rough at first. You have to commit your time to the homework in each class and pay much attention to the teacher in class while he's lecture or whatever. Here are some tips to manage AP classes:

1. Make sure after school you have enough time to do your homework. Being involved in too many clubs, sports, or activities can limit your time on how much you have to spend on your homework. For me, I always wanted to do all of my homework AND go to bed on time. I'm not like one of those other people that can stay up til midnight doing their homework. Yeah that's not me. But if you are comfortable doing that and can concentrate on your homework at late at night, then you do have an advantage to participate in after school activities without having it bog down your homework time.

2. Make a list if your really stressed out about getting things completed on time. Tackling one thing at a time on your list. Don't overload yourself. That's what most AP kids do sometimes when they can't handle things.

3. Find resources to help you study for the AP exam, besides your school textbook. For example, books like Barrons or the Princeton Review can be very helpful when you are studying for your AP exams. Also, if you search online like google AP Chemistry or AP whatever, it'll list up many many sources that are available to study.

4. A word from someone who has been in two AP classes: when it comes down to mid to late April, you should start studying then because the AP exams are held in early May. I studied for my test at the start of may and I wished that I had start earlier.

AP classes are good. I took  bunch of em before in high school. In my opinion, they are not nearly as hard as they sound. The main difference between an AP class and a regular one is hella much more work to do. More homework, tests, and the like. You just can't afford to be lazy, especially if you are taking more than one AP class. Don't fret. It's not that difficult, just do what you have to do, and you will be fine. PS AP classes are awesome for college, I know a bunch of people that were basically sophomores by the time they got in to college because of AP credits. I started college with 16 credits. Just don't take the classes for granted because AP tests are hard and u need to ace em to get AP credits for college.
