Question:

Any tips on driving a jet ski?

I bought a Polaris 2001 jetski yesterday, and rode it today for the first time with my daughter on the back. It seemed very back heavy and unstable with her onboard (she weighs about 170, and so do I). I have driven jet skis before and never experienced this. With only me onboard, it seemed very stable, but as soon as she got on we felt like we were going to tip and were VERY unstable at low speeds. Any ideas?

  1. I've had this experience at da lake! LOL! (1) Never make ANY sharp turns. Always keep it @ a 60-90 degree angle. You will pay greatly by rocking back and forth and eventually falling off. (2) Keep a constant pace. Do not go three different speeds in 5 seconds. You could really jack up your engine! Plus, the more weight, the more matter to deal with so keep the steering even more straight! (3, Last) Land on the beach, etc. slowly (bad experience).

  2. Jetskis are soooo much fun. not really any rules i would say to really do to much. im 13 and i drive jetskis all the time. i try to do doughnuts and stuff and for about 3 years ive never once tipped over a jetski. (and im a crazy driver) all i can say is just have fun and dont worry about tipping over. try ridding with your daughter in the front then you drive (thats what my uncle does with me) idk how old your daughter is but you can try it. My info probably does you no good and im sorry if it doesnt but i tried

  3. Only idea I have is --- sell it and buy a tandem bicycle (for two) -- a HECK of a lot SAFER and a cardio workout for free AND a much less chance of physical injury or worse

    Good Luck !!

  4. The answer above me about no rules and all the other c**p is the worst answer to a jet ski question ive ever heard, they should never be allowed near a jetski ever again, but any way, with the extra weight on the back the jetski will take longer to plane, especialy if you travel at a slow speed, once you get up to speed it should level off
