My hamster is pretty clean. He has a separate part on his cage that he pees in. I clean his cage once a week but there is this disgusting stain on the bottom of it... I cant get it off very easily... I've tried soaking it in vinegar, soaking it in water, scrubbing at it. Even putting vinegar with water AND scrub at it.

  1. Yeah, that happens... its just where the urine mixes with the dust of the bedding & solidifies and sticks to the cage... it used to happen to my hamster cages all the time. Only thing that worked was scraping it off with a knife, but you had to scrape hard. It was really no big deal though, just clean over it with your usual cage cleaner, it's annoying to look at, but it really wont hurt anything.

...Um DO NOT use nail polish remover... the smell will sink into it and make the cage smell horrible, it will erode the plastic, & possible make the hamster sick... but i'm sure you already know that, just making sure.

  2. The reason for this is YOU HAVE A VERY BAD CAGE!!!! I used to have that cage and my hamster almost died in it 4 times, and I used to have the same pee stain problem, my hamster also escaped 3 times and found weak spots in the cage, and if your hamster doesn't excersize in that pile of plastic, don't be alarmed!................................... Listen, I'm not trying to be mean or anything , it's just that the habitrail ovo's are bad for your hamster, they aren't ventillated enough, and it doesn't give your hamster room to run around, I acctually just recently switched from the habitrail to a wire cage, and I noticed he got much more active immeadiately, believe me, I hate the thought hamsters dying or getting sick, so please, for your hamsters sake, get a wire cage!!!!!! I suggest these two cages:

Either is fine, they're the same thing, except one is two stories and one is one story.  And if you don't listen to me I guess I'll tell you how to get the stains out, you have to dunk the stain in water quickly then scrape it with a plastic or real knife, fork, or spoon, it doesn't matter which.  But I really hope you take my advice and switch the cage! Since I was kinda mean in the beggining I bet I'm not going to get best answer, huh? :(

Anyways, good luck, and I hope I helped!

  5. omg... They all do that I am sorry but if you like every single thing clean in the cage u would have to get a new cage, and clean it every single day...

  6. who seriously cares if there is a small stain on your hamsters cage! i don't think hes going to care.

but seriously nail polish remover works for EVERYTHING!

so does the clean magic eraser.

  7. Try a degreaser, preferably an all natural one made from citrus.
