  1. Simply stand up, put your foot on your board, hold onto the seat with you back hand and let the lift push you away.

  2. When you see the Prepare to Unload sign lift the bar and get a little under half of your butt off the chair (Be sure nose is pointing forward from this time on) then when you reach the unload slope just point your board's nose straight and put your back foot (which will be out of your binding for the duration of your ride) on your stomp pad, the rubber thing between your bindings, and just glide down.

  3. about 20 ft from the unloading zone move your body on the lift so that your board is pointing straight out. as you let your board down onto the landing zone push your foot against your back binding to give you stabily so you dont fall over. if you have a stomp pad by your rear binding put your foot on the pad and keep it on it. once you get off the lift you will sometimes get going fast so make sure you know how to turn and stop with only one foot strapped in.

    good luck, it takes time

  4. First of all, if you have your own board, you might want to look into investing in a stomp pad.  It will help you if you're still trying to learn how to get off.

Second of all, I'm not completely sure about the waving thing because the lift operators where I go usually don't really pay attention.

When you get close, put your front foot forward, and keep the nose up (given).  Twist your body and hang onto the back of the chair with your back hand.  When your board hits the landing, push off the back with your hand and push with your free leg as if you were skating.  Then put your foot on your stomp pad and ride away.  If you don't have a pad, wedge your foot against your back binding and do it the same way.  Just make sure you maintain the pressure between your boot and binder.  Keep your knees bent, and if you still aren't fully confident with your stopping skills without your back foot strapped in, stay flat and ride as far away as you can before falling so others won't run into you.

  5. Before getting on the lift, make sure they don't crowd your chair.  Tell them you're a beginner; there's no shame in that.  On a three-wide chairlift, it's hard getting out with two other ppl around or next to you.

    1) As you're approaching the drop-off point, you can wave your hand up-and-down.  This signals the chair operator to slow the lift down.

    2) Lift your board up slightly and straighten (it helps to angle yourself and sit sideways a little) preparing to lay your board down as soon as possible

    3) Place your back-hand (left hand if you're goofy-footed, right hand if you're regular) on the chair

    4) As your board touches down, place your back foot on your stomp pad immediately

    5) Stand up using your back-hand for stability, keep your hand on the chair

    6) Let the chair push you forward (later on you can push yourself away from the chair)

    7) Stay low and keep your weight evenly over your board, ride straight.  Start turning/breaking gently as soon as you feel comfortable; ease into your toe or heel edge (as your back-foot isn't strapped in).

Don't get discouraged, everyone falls off the chair in the beginning.  I've been boarding 10 years and still fall off the lift sometimes; I hate when I get sandwiched between two ppl.  Have fun!

  6. dont fall

  7. Before you get to the lift tell the lift operator that you don't want to be on a full chair and be sure to sit on an edge seat if it's more than a two seater, fewer people makes it easier to ride off.

When the lift is at the prepare to unload sign raise the bar and swivel your body so your board is in line with the slope of the ramp.

Keep the nose up and when it's flat on the ground position your back foot next to the binding (in front, not behind it).  Use a hand on the seat to push yourself to standing and keep that hand on the chair to give you momentum down the ramp.

Don't think about falling, pick a spot at the far side of the unload area in a straight line, look at it and you'll get there!

  8. Try skate boarding.  Just get one and learn how to ride down the street.  The feeling is exactly the same when you have one foot out.  Also get a stomp pad and focus on keeping good riding position this will prevent you from falling.  Other than that just keep trying till you get it.  That is how every snowboarder learned.
