Question:

Any tips on growing a cycad ?

Type of soil, temperature, indoor or out. I'm in London UK. Plant is about 10 inches and outside at the moment.

  1. They grow sooooo slowly that you should get the size you want and look at it that way for years. Moist but well-drained soil is what they want but its tough to water a plant that never grows and once it dries out it dies. You might as well buy an artificial cycad because it will grow just as fast as a real one! :P

  3. Dont over water the plant

    They will grow in full sun or in partial shade outdoors, but will not tolerate frost/snow very well. So maybe bring it inside during winter if you have it in  a pot.

    Also they don't like a lot of fertilisers,. dont use anything with too much phosphate in it. A bit of chicken manure is good, if you can stand the smell.
