  1. boats rock on the river, too (by "rock", I mean rock like a rocking chair, not like a concert).  dramamine is all I know, but it might make ya sleepy.

  2. Don't worry the waves on the river can't be that bad. You probably would get sick it you go to the ocean but not on the rive. I get mission sickness when I take long car rides or ride my four Wheeler but never when I ride on a boat. Just take motion sickness pills and you will be fine.

  3. You probably won't even get sea sick due to the fact that boat is pretty big and there aren't that big of waves, but there is medicine you can get prior to going on the boat the will stop you from getting sea sick. I'm in the Navy , I've never gotten sea sick myself, but seen plenty of people who have. The medicine really works.

  4. Take Dramamine about 30 minutes before your boat trip.

    Good Luck...

  5. just throw up in your mouth and keep swallowing it

  6. Been there and done that...

You don't really have anything to worry about... the Hudson is not that wide, and is quite sheltered from cross wind.

It is a beautiful cruise and there is far too much to see... besides, you will be so busy site seeing as you cruise up and down the Hudson - sea sickness will never cross your mind - least not after you get started...

However, aside from drugs... the very best indication (we Captains have) of predicting if someone going to get sea sick or not - is too factors... 1. do they look like they are in good physical condition?  (and I mean, do they look healthy and in good physical condition)  2. Do they look well hydrated?  (clear eyes, no bags under the eyes, good skin elasticity, etc...)  If both of these factors pertain to you - then you don't have anything to worry about on the Hudson...

You will enjoy the day, and the ride.  A 65 foot vessel is big enough so that it will not have any serious movement or rocking motion on the Hudson... or even in the Hudson Bay area unless the wind and weather is rougher than usual.

If you however are "so afraid" you will be sick, that alone, can make you so...  So, if you want to take some meds do so, by all means... only make sure you take them as prescribed, and "timing" is the key factor here... Most passengers that get sick and took the meds - we find - didn't take the meds until they boarded the vessel... when actually, most of the meds tell you to take 'em or wear 'em (which ever the case may be) at least 2 hours before boarding the boat.

So, if you are in good health and good physical condition, take your meds when you are supposed to, and keep yourself hydrated... you will not have any problems whatsoever... probably not even on the open sea - and certainly not in the Hudson River...

    Happy & Safe Boating!
