I'm a pretty good swimmer, but I'd just like to learn some techniques on how to swim faster. I used to be on a swim team, but I stopped a few years ago. Any tips on how to swim faster?

  1. Swim more, try harder.

  2. Free- take strokes with the rotation

    Breastroke- keep hands in front

    Backsroke- quick turnover (fast arms)

    Butterfly- two kicks per pull

  3. ive been swimming at my school like forever and my coach always taught me to take less breaths and the most important time to not take a breath is like right after you take your flipturn

and also when you have a good stroke that helps a real lot like whe  you siwm frestyle you want to lke point your elbow as mush as you can and also cup your hand and keep it curved when your palm hits the water so that you get more push in the water and dont forget to always kick yopur legs most people neglect to kick there feet when its like more than half of the work you do when you swim also remeber that 95% of swimming is thinking because you need to think of how many breaths to take and oyu need to concentrate on how much you kick and your stroke too......

theres a lot to it but it is good to look up videos on youtube for this.

  4. Well it's all about resistance and pushing the water.  If you want to swim faster let's say in front crawl you want to make sure your body stays straight right up on the surface of the water and when moving your arms keep them as close to the water as possible (although remember elbow always above your hand).

Really emphasize on your pull after your hand enters the water and remember to do the "S" pull as well.  That helps push the water a lot more helping you to go faster.

Also you have to remember to constantly keep kicking.  I know some people who like to stop kicking when they breathe and that tends to slow them down a lot.

I hope I was able to help ^^ Good luck!

  5. For swimming freestyle a tip faster is to take as less breathes as possible then you will go faster. another tip is to wear a swim cap because the less drag you have the faster you will go, also for swimming freestyle do flipturns at each wall because it takes off a couple seconds of your time and its way faster then touching the wall and puching off trust me!!!

  6. Body alignment is a technique that is important for ALL of the strokes, so lemme see if I can get some tips on this.

For freestyle, LOOK at the bottom of the pool as you swim, and not at the wall on the other side. This will help your rotation of your shoulders and hips when you take a stroke. So, you should be getting good power while also swimming straight. Also not crossing over with your arms will help too.

Backstroke is much like freestyle when it comes to rotation and swimming in a straight line. Keep your head back (don't look down at your feet, or else your hips will have a tendency to sink) and exaggerate rotating your shoulders near your chin to practice.

Breaststroke and butterfly are a bit different I guess, but having your hips up and getting a lot of good forward power is something to think about. For these strokes, the concern isn't about moving side to side but moving down, so as long  as your momentum is forward that won't be a problem.

  7. Try really hard to just think fast and you will go fast.

  8. I would start back up on a swim team to get good coaching advice
