Any tips on memorizing bass drum music for marching band?

  1. REPETITION... LOTS OF IT!

    Go through it by small sections at a time, adding little by little.

    AND DON'T FORGET A METRONOME!


  2. P R A C T I C E is your best friend.

    that is the only way .

    practice an hour or less everyday.

    play the same phrase 5 times, then move on to a new part, and put it all together.

    that is your best bet.

  3. i have my bass drummers learn split parts as unison first,...that means they know the whole rhythm first---then their particular part of the rhythm. this helps with memorization and with fluidity of split bass parts.

    ---using a subdiving metronome (dr. beat?) helps.
