Any tips on paying attention during class lectures?

No matter how interesting the teacher or the subject may be, I still find myself dozing off way too easily and missing important parts. I don't know where my mind goes to. I've got trouble paying attention for long periods of time. I'm sure, however, that it's not ADD.

  1. Starbucks, to keep you awake, and a mini voice recorder, to tape the lectures. I don't recommend the recorders as a substitute to taking notes and listening, since they're hard to wade through afterward, but they'll keep you from missing anything important. Mine's smaller than an iPod, and cost about $20. Some laptops also have this feature, either as a recorder or a web cam.

  2. I hate to admit, but I did a little day dreaming too... I would listen and write, even if there is a powerpoint. I doodle a bit too

  3. Try reading the chapter before class, that way, you'll be in familiar territory.  I find it helps.

    Also, just get more sleep!

One more thing:  Since you are female, you can get away with something like knitting or crocheting in class.  A friend of mine did this in school to keep awake, and it worked well for her.

  4. What I do, is I used a really good smelling perfume and put it on my wrist. DONT rub it when you spray it, because the smell fades faster. And whenever you feel yourself dozing off, or day dreaming, smell it. It wakes you up, and lets you know to pay attention!

Use your absolute favorite perfume/body spray whenever you have a 2 hour lecture class, or a class you don't really like.If you have that good smelling lotion or a body spray, you can use it before your class starts
