  1. She might be territorial of her cage.  Try opening the door and letting her walk out on her own before trying to get her to "step up".  That should be the very first command to teach your bird.  Put your index finger on the chest lightly and say "Step Up" over and over until she gets it.  She should just hop up onto your finger.

Be around her as much as possible so she knows youre not a predator but her friend.  You need a lot of patience with cockatiels.  But you can do it!  Hang in there.  Don't just open the cage and stick your hand in there and expect her to be OK with it right off the bat. Let her come out when shes comfortable; maybe get a cage top playset for her to hang out on.  Feed her food and treats by hand, etc.

    Goodluck!! :-)

  2. -dont react when she bites, just say NO.

-spend time with your bird to build a strong bond.

-offer your tiel treats every time she does something good.

-be calm and quiet around her, with no sudden movements.

-talk to your bird often, read to her at night, and hang around the cage alot

-If the bird gets mean and aggresive outside the cage, dont put her back in it. this tells her 'get mad, get in cage' and she'll do it often.

-when negative behavior starts, do a 'step up ladder' to distract her. (a step up ladder is when you get a bird to step up onto your finger multiple times, one after the other.)

-dont chace your bird around if shes running away from you

-dont get above her, it causes them fright.

-teach her tricks, she'll love you for it.

-you can check out clicker training on the internet if you want an easyer time reinforcing good behavior.

    - dont force her out of the cage, let her come out on her own.

    - take her out of the room her cage is in to reduce the dominance your bird has.

  3. if u just got her, she'll need time to adjust, just let her b and get used to her new enviroment, and most important, let her warm up to u. after a couple days, take her out ( yes she will still squak and bite) but they need to get used 2 u and their new home!!! after about a week, go to birdtricks.com, this guy named chet has all these cool ways to make the nastiest parrot into a pure angel.but'll it'll take time, pataints, love and devotion. it helped my evil little charlie. i sweasr he was the meanist little cockateil i've ever seen, but now.......... he's an angel, go do it, it's amazing!!! u can also order his video and books and stuff, i didn't and charlie is great, so imagine what the dvd will do!!! good luck!! ♣♣♣
