  1. Be very careful in London at night.  The tube and night busses can sometimes be full of obnoxious drunks.

Be careful where you keep your valuables... a bag or purse slung behind you is a invitation to the pickpockets and they are plentiful especially in popular shopping areas.....

  2. It's not dangerous - I use night buses all the time - there are always a lot of people around, sometimes a loud drunk or two, but I've never seen any trouble at all, in years.

  3. Yes: don't.

Joking.  Seriously though, don't go near anybody looking mildly suspicious, drinking, smoking, loitering or generally being scary.  Don't talk to anybody and don't flash your valuables.  Keep your bag zipped up and on you at all times, with valuables in your pockets.

  4. Christ man!  this is London not Rio de janeiro.

  5. never go outside alone especially at night, anything could happen at any time, alway go out with your family

  6. Always get into a train or tube carriage that has other people in it. Safety in numbers. You might find it more reassuring to sit downstairs on a bus at night, within the sight of the driver; although if you do like sitting upstairs make sure you have a seat with easy access to the stairs. Be aware of where you put your possessions - don't make yourself a target for opportunists. Keep bags in your lap and things like purses and phones well hidden. It's generally advised that you don't shout your intended actions after getting off the bus or train into your phone; let the entire vehicle know where you're going or where you live and there's always the possibility you can be followed. That's not just London at night, that's anywhere, anytime.

Personally, I've never had any problems on public transport late at night, and have found it rare for a bus or train to ever be completely empty. So don't work yourself up and make yourself too scared by thinking of all the terrible things that might happen; in all likelihood, they never will.

  7. Old saying safety in numbers !

    Pretender

  8. you should stay with someone (a friend).

  9. Geez, London is very safe at night because there is always people walking around and the underground is never empty and busses always have other passengers. Dont worry !!

  10. don't use unlicensed mini- cabs/taxi touts especially women travelling alone.
