  1. recomandable

but be sure to ask people about the dangerous zones

    cause I am from there

and some zones are really dangerous

a good town to go visit

    is where I growed up

    Panzos, alta verapaz

    be sure to go there

Its really nice and I love it

there is not much crimes because all people know each other

  2. Get out of Guatemala City as soon as you get off the plane! The Mayan areas of Guatemala (the highlands from Antigua, Lake Atitlan area, and Chichicastenango) are considered the best places in all of Latin America, for single woman travelers. Check out the videos at http://www.atitlan.net for an intro to Guatemala.

  3. I've travelled there as a single woman. Do not drive a car at night. Stay in tourist areas, and be sure to get a great guidebook and talk to hotel staff about safe & unsafe areas. Visit places only during the day. Do not use tour guides who approach you. Do not hike solo. Hide money and passport inside your clothes. Have small amounts of cash available for shopping, so if you do encounter trouble, you can lose only a small amount of cash. Drink only bottled water & canned or bottled carbonated drinks & avoid ice cubes. (Obviously those comments aren't just for women! ;)  )

There is much to see and enjoy about Guatemala. Your time will be more enjoyable if you know some Spanish.

  4. Stick to the normal touristy spots.  Hang on to your purse and don't wear flashy jewelery.  Guatemala is generally safe, and as long as you don't put yourself into a bad area, you should be fine.
