  3. I also suffer from anxiety in many situations, for example dealing with panic attacks at the dentist, in the airplane and in the car. I've been in treatment for years for sleep problems and Generalized Anxiety Disorder.

My doctor put me on a regimen of 1mg clonozepam 2x daily. That worked really well for the first few years, but then I developed a tolerance and it stopped working. Some doctors don't like to prescribe Benzodiazapines because they have a moderate risk for addiction. But if given the choice, I would much rather be mildly addicted to a hardless med than live my life as a nervous wreck!

Alternatives to pharmaceuticals are hypnosis, talking to a psychologist, herbal supplements such as St. John's Wort (helps with depression, perhaps also for anxiety but check it out first).

There are also relaxation cds that lead you through muscle relaxation exercises. If you do them often enough, you can teach your body to automatically do the exercises when you are placed in a stressfull situation.

  4. Singing helps sometimes :D
