  1. It's called the Amador Causeway. Just on the outskirts of the city. It's everyting you said it is but not much of a beach.

  2. You're close, but no cigar.  I believe you are looking for the Amador Causeway.  5 mile of dirt that was excavated from the digging of the Panama Canal.  Beautiful tree lined sidewalks the full length of the causeway that allows you to take a leisurely stroll from the mouth of the canal (under the famous Bridge of the Americas) to the tip of the causeway which extends into the Bay of Panama.  The end of the causeway serves as a port for cruise ships with a mini free zone mall.  Restaurant do line the causeway.  There's a marine biology Smithsonian extension there, a couple of hotels, lots of restaurant and bars, people exercising, biking, skating, etc. Around the tip of the causeway is a small floating city composed of an amazing number of vessels (mostly cargo) waiting to transit the canal.  Definitely can't imagine being here and not visiting the causeway.

Good place to eat are Albertos, Mi Ranchito, Pencas (for tradition Panamanian dancing and music), and Leños y Carbon.
