Any truth to the rumor that ORD is relaxing the operational caps?

maybe when the  runway expansion plan bears fruit, for now the FAA is "requesting" airlines to scale back volunteer  . they are currently past their max capacity.

Yes according to a United pilot I spoke with a few weeks ago, toward the end of the year (2008) O'hare will be able to increase traffic due to the (expected) runway re-configuration completion.  You can check the airport website for more details.  Just click on the runway expansion project link when you get there.  It's very visible.

I work from ORD and I haven't heard this yet. But they really should because the amount of delays the airport has is just ridiculous.
