  1. -give 200% out on the court.. yes 200 this will give the coach the idea that you can play harder than the rest

-try to be the BEST at each and every one of the drills

-show that you are willing to sacrifice your body to save that darn ball DIVE DIVE DIVE... if the ball goes down you should go down with it

-wear bright colors that attract attention

-help others if they need help because it shows you can be a good team mate and an asset to the team

  2. It's easier to move forward than backward. If someone is tipping alot and your in the front row, back up a bit and be ready to dig it. When the other team is serving, it is almost always a good idea to let the back row get it. Sometimes people serve really, really short so that can change the strategy.

Also, I have never worn pads of any kind. I learned how to fall "correctly" and I find that a lack of pads helps me to be quicker and more agile.

And remember, be agressive! Call "GOT IT!" and take it!

  3. do some warm up exercises before trying out.. say mine if the ball's coming your way..

    and have fun!

  4. Okay...first of all...pay attention to the ball....even if it's not coming your way, because you never know if the ball WILL come flying your way.

If you're in the front row, especially in the middle, if it goes over your head, just duck, so the person behind you would know that you're not getting the ball.

Move it!! Move for the ball, don't just remain a statue. Bend you knees!

Always call the ball, if you're going for it!! I don't think anybody would want to collide into somebody, if they both went for the ball.

Don't be a ball hogger. I have this girl in my class and during gym class, she goes all over the place, and never gives anyone else on the team a chance to get the ball, because that girl just won't simply stay at her spot.

Always have a positive attitude, and good sportsmanship, cheer the others on!!

I hope this helps, and good luck on your try-outs! I hope you make it :]

  5. I'm just going to give you the typical advice:

Don't worry about it, I'm sure you'll do fine, if it doesn't happen this year, there's always next year, blah blah blah.

Now, it depends on how high it is over your head.  If it's heading straight for your head it's probably a good idea to open up and let back row get it.  If you have an amazing passer behind you, LET THEM GET IT.

  6. well my coach always taught me to go 3feet to the right left back and front of u and thats as far as you should go to get the ball because if u go to far and someone else hits it to where you originally were u wont be able to hit it because you will be to bust trying to get back to that spot.also i tip of advice dont let the ball fall inbetween u ur coach will get very mad =[

  7. talk a ton. litterally scream the name of the person that the ball is going to. just talk and it draws attetion to you and your abilities.

also be a good sport and give people high fives even if they missed the ball

this isnt alot on the actually playing but its really puts a good reputation on you.

one more thing. get stong before tryouts. streath helps alot in the game :) good luck

  8. you've gotta feel it!

tip: when serving the ball is your brother/sister/enemy!

  9. IT DEPENDS I'M A VOLLEYBALL PLAYER AND THE BEST BACK ROW PLAYER IF IT IS ABOVE YOUR HEAD YELL LOUD SAY BACK AND TURN TOWARD THE BACK IF YOU NOW WHO'S BE HIND YOU YELL HER NAME... HAVE FUN...IF YOU THINK YOU CAN SET IT TO THE SETTER THEN TRY THAT NEVER JUST TAKE A SWING AT IT... BUT MORE THAN LIKELY LET IT GO TO THE BACK THEY SHOULD ALWAYS BE READY ...

  10. I played for 35  years in Adult Rec vball.......with men and women. First thing is to get a good pair of padded knee pads. Dives to dig out the ball really mess up your knees. How's your serve? Do you have to jump and serve the ball? If so.....bring your arm up holding the ball and jump and hit the ball with the flat palm of your hand. Practice this as the net is high and you need to stay inbounds. If you can put a spin on the ball, it will make it harder to return. Keep your position and always keep your eye on where the ball is at all times. If it's coming to you...........use the mandatory 3 hit rule. That requires setting by bumping the ball top another player or back setting it. This takes practice.so maybe you can find at least on person to practice with. You set the ball by placing your hands together and interwining your fingers, using your thumb to angle the ball left or right or forward. I always wear a wrist band on my serving hand as it protects me from some nasty bruises. Know your positons and where to stand. The coach will instruct you as volleyball is a little different depending on what you play on and a school team. If you are the front line, especially the middle, the ball should be set to you. Then you must try to get it over the net by slamming it (spiking) or tipping it over or just hit it over using both of your hands up in the air with your palms facing the net. Look for a "hole" on the other side where there is no player that is close. Just tapping the ball over the net so it drops on the other side of the net but close to the net is a good tactic. The other side will find it almost impossible to return it. Always serve from behind the line and announce the score out loud i.e. announce your points first and theirs........2 serving 4.... Some coaches will have you say "side-out" and that means you or someone else is ready to serve. If a ball comes low , near the floor dive and dig it up so that another player can get it on your team. Here's where the thick knee pads really help. You are actually diving like a dive in a shallow pool to get the ball. It takes practice. Make sure you wear loose and comfortable clothes and a good pair of athletic shoes. The schools usually give you a uniform or tell you what to get. Listen to the call of the line judges too. Never hit a ball consecutively more than once..but it's legal to hit it after someone else has hit it in-between your hit. Block a ball if you are in the front line by bring both arms up with palms up again to block it and send it back over. Never touch the tape on the net or the net while doing this.

I know I am going through the game and your coach will teach you. I would advise that you get a volleyball....if you don't already have one and practice these skills with one or more people. You can always practice the bumping of the ball or serving alone or up against a wall. Many parks have volleyball nets set up to practice and I would take advantage of it. Best of luck and I hope you make the team! Hope I was helpful. Oh yea........don't forget a bottle of water too!

  11. no you let the back row get it unless you call it then you have to get it

haha good luck anymore questions email me i LOVe volleyball it is my life

  12. just do ur best. wear sophies and a comfortable tee, dont eat anything big a banana will do and drink lots of water. volleyabll is a very fast pace sport so running a mile(less if thats too much) a day. practice with a volleyabll at home like bumping spiking serving stuff like that.i hope you make the team. =)

and if it goes behin you dont back up back row will most likely call mine, and go for it. and if they dont go for it. its not ur fault coah will blame it on the back row.
