Any way to bypass windows home edition xp password?

Question

my friend gave me his computer to fix but he's out of town and i do not know the password for his computer. so is there anyway to bypass this password without resetting it or reformatting his computer? i also cannot get into safe mode so is there anyway without lo gin in make a new account or into his?

here is an option:

1.-shut down the pc

2.-turn it back on but keep pressing F8 as it's booting up, the idea is to get it to start in safe mode.

3.-It should give you the option of logging in as "administrator" even if normally that's not an option. So, log in as administrator and it should not need a password to do so.

4. once you are in, either crete another user with no password or go to user accounts under control panel and remove the password that is on your way.

5.- Reboot in normal mode

There is something that I've heard about called Ophcrack. I've never used it but supposedly it will crack the password to computers. Because it does that I assume it's illegal to use without permission of the owner but since your friend gave you his computer to fix I'd think he'd be okay with it. I can't give you a link or anything since I haven't used it before but I bet if you did a google search you'd get something.

No looks like your stuck till you can get hold of him. The reason you can't get into F8 safe mode because you are not the Administrator and you are using a user or guest account therefore the control panel is unavailable. Depending what your doing to it maybe he doesn't want you to access it!
