Any way to convince friend to get a 360 and not a ps3?

The best way is, there is more games for the xbox 360!  The Xbox live network is better (but you do have to pay for it).  Thats the main things going for Xbox 360,  it well get netflix this fall,  but you could already do those types of things.

Well since its your friends and yall will be playing together, the 360 is wayyyyyy better for that. PS3 has nothing. 360 has a whole system so that you have your friends can join games, chat, send game invites, and tons more.

360's are also cheaper and have better games.

The remotes vibrate and fit into your hand better.

Removable Hard Drive (This is good because say you have a lot of downloaded Rock Band songs or the extra maps on Call of Duty 4 and your going over to his house to play. Simply push a button and your Exclusive content is coming with you)

If you or your friends have a Netflix subscription, you can now get your q'd movies instantly on your Xbox.

And here's a biggie..

The 360 comes with a headset so you can actually talk you your friends! unlike the PS3.

Easy enough show him a George Foreman's Lean Mean Grilling Machine and say how would you like one of these in your bedroom!

Another way show him the titles on the Xbox 360 compared to the low amount of games for the PS3 .... OK PS3 got metal gear solid but i weren't that impressed by it.

OK XBox360 has got the dreaded RROD problem, but the PS3 ain't all that better with its problems.

They both have pros and cons, but in the end is your friends decision and if he wants to join the Dark Side then let him.
