Any way to get western culture to get used to switching to slippers inside the house?

One of our amusing idiosyncracies in the US is the habit of nonchalantly tracking dirt inside from the outside, regardless of carpeted floors or no...

We don't want to go through the "bother" of stooping to get the shoes off apparently...Japan evolved past this...

Maybe "easy off/on shoes"? Alternative to laces?

  1. You can't change a whole culture so easily. I couldn't change your mind to induce you to wear your shoes in the house for example, but you want to change the minds of millions of people.

  2. Don't know what you're talking about.  Most of the families I know take their shoes off after coming inside.  Especially now that we've all been brainwashed to install cream carpeting.

  3. I grew up in the west (Oklahoma) and we take our shoes off when entering the home and many of my friend's parents required they come off before exiting the entry area.

i think my dog tracks in more dirt that we do anyway.....

  4. My wife converted me to wearing slippers by buying me a pair.  She is Russian and I am not.
