Question:

Any way to keep running?

i am on my high school track team, and we have the sub-section meet next week. i developed shin splints only about two days ago but i would REALLY like to keep training for the meet.....i know i could use the excersize bike and such but i would really like to keep running.

p.s. does anyone know any excersizes which improves shin splints?

  1. you have to stretch out your muscles  A LOT to even make the slightest improvement on your shin splints.  also if you really want to keep running try not to run on hard surfaces. stay on the grass, sand or anything else softer to minimize the pain. you might even want to get some new running shoes because sometimes shin splints can occur from lack of support in your tennis shoes. hope i helped.


  2. i was told to stretch mine out by spelling the alphabet with my feet.  lol i dont remember how much it worked but that's what my coach told me to do once.  also, you can take ibuproffen or some other anti-inflammatory that day.

  3. I had shin splits and runners knee back when I started out running; I did a lot of pool running.

    Mind you, it may sound easy, but given the extra pressure the water adds against your gait, it's a pretty decent work out. It kept my cardio endurance up, and actually improved my gait/running mechanics.
