  1. Intercity bus service would probably be the most suitable way to go

    http://www.intercity.co.nz/

  2. From Rotorua you are restricted to a bus.

From Hamilton you have the option of either a bus or by train.

  3. train?

  4. From Hamilton there is one a day on each service, or the scenic on intercity via New Plymouth.

From Rotorua there is one service on each, direct.  And on change at Taupo on Newmans  Takes about 5 hours.

  5. heaps of ways, the intercity bus or train, you can try a taxi, mite cost you several hundred dollars, but meh, who cares about money? :P

  6. The train does not run past rotorua anymore.  You can however, take an intercity, newmans or getnaked (i think it is called)bus...just google their names to find their websites.

  7. Well I am sure the train goes that way ( well Hamilton to Palmy). buses are probably better in that there are more companies, more times....I think something like Intercity would be a good start ( I'm not sure of bus companies in the Nroth Island)...maybe Atomic shuttles as well.

  8. State Highway 1...

  9. Intercity/Newmans (they are the same company) run 2 daytime services and 1 nighttime service from Rotorua and Hamilton (connecting at Taupo) to Bulls, and then you change there for Palmerston North.

I think there is also a Hamilton to Bulls service via Taumarunui.

You could hire a car. There are several companies offer cheap rentals, but usually the cheaper companies do not permit a one-way hire.

I've even seen tourists attempting to bike this journey - that's why they're known as "Loopys".
