Any wireless router experts, give me advice + recommend me a wireless router? Anyone have D-Link WBR-2310?

The one I have now has really bad reviews on Amazon, I got it for free by rebate from Circuit City when purchasing a laptop... so I don't know if I should just not even use it and purchase a new one, or try it out anyway. Would it mess things up permanently if the router really was that faulty and I wanted to replace it? Can I reverse it and resume to LAN connection if I don't want to connect wirelessly to it anymore? Or if I should just get a new router, which brand/model is good.

  1. Even if it's c**p it won't be harmful to your machine.  I'd use it since you've already got it.

  2. DLink WBR-2310 is not worth owning. It isn't worth the headaches of the unstable wireless connections it will provide to your computers.  Simply Google WBR 2310 and just sit in awe of the pages and pages of results showing how unreliable this router is.

  3. Here is my recommendation on wireless.  Use wireless for hand held devices like ipods, iphones, and palm devices.  Some laptops may need wireless.

Use powerline instead of wireless if plugging directly to the Internet is not an option.  Use powerline for devices like desktops, xboxes, playstations, and most laptops.  Check this video out: http://www.cnet.com/4520-7390_1-6274537-...

The what tab has product recommendations.

I am not sure if powerline is cheaper, but it is certainly more relialbe and faster than wireless in most cases.  It is also much more secure.
