I hate seeing this...

I know not everyone who is in jail is a con-artist,but...

  1. used to collect fake checks...have at least 100,000 in worthless checks.

That whole scam, you know "I'm moving from such and such country, really want to rent your house." they send a check over the real amount ask you send the change back.  One guy was even nice enough to tell me to keep 300.00 for my trouble.

But if you deposit the check and take the "change" out...your screwed b/c the back hold you responsible for it and the fake check wont clear.

So for fun I started playing along, and letting them send me fake checks.

  2. I believed the sender the first time I received one of those "I am dying of cancer and I would like to give you money" messages. (The name was Rashidath Maxwell. I imagine at least one person here has heard from her.) No finances were transferred in either direction, but I offered to forward her e-mail to the Catholic Church of Canada so they could help her. That's when she stopped writing to me.
