Any1 been 2 Mexico this yr? Do I really need a passport to come back in 2 the US from the mexico/texas border?

I dont have a passport, thinking I didnt need it anytime soon i didtn get one. But my grandpa got sick and hes in a hospital in mexico, where he is from. I need to go next week, and I wanted to know if I REALLY needed the passport, or do they let you slide with an ID and birth certificate, like the old days. Help ASAP

Nope. You don't need one yet. Just your original birth certificate and a valid I.D. I went with my hubby and my children like 4 times now and it wasn't to bad.
