will be traveling with 5k to india.

I know people say ye tha amount is ok.

But I need proof. Can any1 find the answer on the net and then reply with a link??? or advice me where to go to find it?

it is preferable to make travelers cheaque or you can use remit2india.com if you have account in india.

As per indian customs you may have to declare the currency if it exceeds USD 2500.

well, i didn't quite understand your question.

and r u saying 5000 rupees... you can bring in india as much money as u want, there's no compulsion, but its better to also convert some money into travellers check in case u are worried about safety!

5000 rupees is not much so u need not worry at all
