  1. You know, she wasn´t the brightest bulb in the box, but I´m pretty sure she could spell.

  2. You can't get away from information about Diana - she's all over the radio (and the rest of the dashboard)

  3. Read Tina Browns' 'The Diana Chronicles', it is probably the best biography of the Princess as Brown knew her personally.

Diana was born into an aristocratic family (Earl Spencer and Countess Spencer, later Frances Shand Kydd).

This is a very, very brief account of Diana's life.

Diana has two sisters, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, Lady Jane Fellowes, and a brother Charles, now the 9th Earl Spencer. Their parents divorced when Diana was a teenager, and the Earl married Barbara Cartland's daughter Raine. Diana and Charles absolutely despised Raine. In later years, Diana once shoved Raine down the stairs at the family seat, Althorp; Raine was also kicked out by the two on the day after Earl Spencer's death.

Having grown up with members of the Royal Family, Diana had actually known Prince Charles since she was a toddler. Charles had also actually dated her sister Sarah for a time.

Diana failed all of her A-Levels twice and became a nanny for a posh family in Knightsbridge. She raided the London scene by storm and often dated very eligible men. However, it was maintained that she had always fancied herself marrying a royal; not because she felt particularly attached to Charles, but because she liked the idea of being in love with a Prince.

Diana was intimidated by Camilla Parker Bowles even before the marriage. She was a teenager who was about to take on the immense responsibility to become Princess of Wales, and Camilla appeared to be a confident, beautiful and s**y blonde in the London scene who Charles was clearly in love with. The first time Charles and Diana publicly went out, to the theatre, Diana met Princess Grace of Monaco and told her how awful she felt. 'Don't worry, it will get much worse,' was Grace's reply.

After years of suffering during her marriage, bad relationships with her in-laws, Diana emerged as something of an international celebrity and philanthropist. She felt the need of being recognised in the world because Charles was giving so little attention to her, even after the birth of William and later Harry.

In 1995 Diana accused William and Harry's nanny Tiggy Legge-Bourke of aborting Charles' baby. Shortly after, she was granted a divorce by the Queen. In 1996 she began dating Dodi Al-Fayed, son of Harrods owner Mohammed. They went on a trip to France in August 1997. The rest is history.

  4. Go get yourself a copy of Tina Brown's The Diana Chronicles. Brown does a good telling of Diana's story.

Some tidbits: Diana's parents had a very nasty divorce;so nasty that her mother's own mother testified against her daughter in court, which ended up making it very difficult for Diana's mother to visit her children.Diana and her younger brother did not know what was going on and felt that their mother had abandoned them.

Diana's much revered older sister,Sarah, also had an eating disorder;Sarah had Anorexia Nervosa.Diana became bulimic.

Diana harbored suspicions about Camilla Parker Bowles before the marriage;her family talked her into going on with the wedding by teasing her:"It's too late now.Your face is on the tea towels now!", referring to all of the souvenirs about the royal wedding.

Her nickname was "Duch," short for duchess.

  5. Diana, Princess of Wales, (Diana Frances;[2] née Spencer; July 1, 1961 – August 31, 1997) was the first wife of Charles, Prince of Wales. Their sons, Princes William and Henry (Harry), are second and third in line to the thrones of the United Kingdom and fifteen other Commonwealth Realms.

Diana Frances Spencer, born into the British aristocracy, was the youngest daughter of Edward John Spencer,

  6. try the times website or wikipedia. The times in the UK would have a lot about her as there is an inquiry in London about her death about the moment.

  7. Ahhh, she's dead?

  8. Dear Diary,

    ---1969

Daddy (Edward John Spencer, Viscount Althorp) and Mummy are divorcing.  Mummy ran away with a paint and wall paper heir, and because Grandmummy, Lady Ruth Fermoy, testified against her, my brother Charles and I are only going to live with Daddy.

    ---1980

Well, I've flunked my O levels twice at West Heath Girls' School in Sevenoaks, Kent, and because I was homesick,  I've only spent a semester at Institut Alpin Videnanette in Rougemont, Switzerland.  Too bad I'm too tall to be a ballet dancer.  Maybe Daddy, he's 8th Earl Spencer now, will buy me a flat in London, so I can look for a husband.  In the meantime, I'll get a job as a mother's helper and maybe as a kindergarten assistant.

    ---July 1, 1981

I can hardly believe that in just a little over a fortnight I'm getting married to Prince Charles Philip Arthur George, or is it George Arthur Philip?  After all, he is 12-years older than I am and so boring!!!  At any rate, he once dated my older sister Sarah, but she talked to the press, so he called off the romance.  I've been much more discret, some might even call me shy because of the coy looks I give the media.  But I'm really worried that Charles (I have to call him "sir") is still seeing an old girl friend of his, Camilla Parker Bowles.  My sisters tell me I have to go on with the wedding.  Do I look thin enough?  I better throw up all the ice cream I've eaten today. The Palace staff are really tetchy!

    ---1991

James Hewitt came by today.  He so reminds me of my brother, Charles, and he does dote on the boys--besides he's good in bed!!!!  (border of hearts)

    ---August 28, 1996

Well, I've just received a lump settlement of 17,000,000 pounds after divorcing Charles (a whole row of pound signs follows).  Of course, I can't go into the details.  I can, however, continue to live at Kesington Palace, and the boys will live with me most of the time they're home from school.  Besides I'm  in love with Hasnet Khan, a skilled heart surgeon.  He really doesn't want to cope with the PR, however.  Hmm, how can I make him jealous?  ;-)

    ---1997

Wow, I received the Nobel Prize for my work in the International Campaign to Ban Landmines.  I'm just really good with courting the media. The paparazzi can't seem to get enough of me.  Now and then a girl could use a little privacy, however.

Dodi says we're going to go to Paris tomorrow and hints that he has a surprise in mind.
