I've worked for a UN agency -- UNDP -- twice.

First off, every UN agency is different -- they have very different work cultures, very different work styles. Working for UNDP is very different from working for UNICEF, which is very different from UNIFEM, which is very different from working for the Secretariat, and on and on.

Most UN agencies pay very well, and have excellent pension programs. Rewarding? That depends on the job, the agency, the focus of your work, what your expectations are, your supervisor, your co-workers, and so much more.

It is extremely difficult to get a job with a UN agency. It's a *highly* competitive process.
