In case the answer is no, then I'll explain a little bit. Basically it's where the urethral opening is not at the tip of the p***s, it is instead somewhere else. It can be at the base, etc. or anywhere else along the p***s.

If so, did you have it surgically corrected?

Were you advised that a circumcision was necessary to correct it as well?

  1. I think it really depends on the extent of the hypospadias. If his urethral opening isn't even on his shaft, then yes, it might be absolutely necessary to circumcise him to fix it. If it is on the upper part of the p***s, it may not be needed.

The question of whether or not to correct it surgically is a tough one. You might discuss your baby's long-term options with a doctor to see how many procedures might be needed and what follow up care as he grows older. Because the p***s is a sexually sensitive area, it is also difficult to know if proceeding with the operation would negatively affect him sexually. I find that this website has good information about children and genital surgeries.... http://isna.org/

You can also contact NOCIRC (http://nocirc.org/) and DOC (http://www.doctorsopposingcircumcision.o... to get referrals for f******n-friendly doctors in your area. American doctors are so used to circumcising that many probably don't even give a second thought to circumcising for hypospadias repair. A f******n friendly doc can tell you for sure if it will be absolutely necessary for your son. -Neb

  2. My friend's son had the surgery done and yes, he was circumcised to fix it. She didn't want her son circumcised but because of the surgery, he was. That was because the skin is used for grafting.

"At birth, your male child will not be able to undergo circumcision, as the extra f******n may be needed for the surgical repair." http://www.lpch.org/DiseaseHealthInfo/He...

"During the surgery , the p***s is straightened and the hypospadias is corrected using tissue grafts from the f******n." http://www.righthealth.com/Health/Hyposp...

  3. no, mine dont have it, but it is almost NEVER medically necessary to circumcise in order to correct it.  please research this as much as possible. where is it located?  they can do the surgery with doing less damage than a circumcision on top of all of it would be in most cases.  good luck for your little one to be healthy and keep his f******n!
