Listen everybody im not a good smart genius who is good at math..i suck and its even harder on me because im homeschooled and have online work to do on the internet..i need to finish this to get my summer vacation and everybody elses started :[[ can somebody help me with these?

For the next four problems, complete each ordered pair so that it is a solution to “–2x + y = 3”. State the complete ordered pair as the solution or state the letter of the answer, whichever is appropriate.

Just like the first poster did - plug the numbers into the equation.

-2x + y = 3

-2 x 3 is -6

-6 + y = 3

Even it out by adding +6 to each side (isolate y)

-6 + y + 6 = 3 + 6

(-6 and 6 cancel each other out)

so...y = 9

try it:

-6 + 9 = 3

Next one, substitute -4 for y.

-2x + -4 = 3

You need a positive number for -2x, since y is negative, so x must be a negative number.  Negative x negative = positive.

So, to isolate 2x, add 4 to each side.

-2x + -4 + 4 = 3 + 4

-2x = 7

x = -3.5

Try it out:

(-2 * -3.5) + -4 = 3

You should be able to do the others based on the above models.  Hope that helps!

kk how my math teacher showed me below:

(3,?)= -2x+y=3

-2(3)+y=3

-6+y=3

+6   +6  (then use a positive 6 to cancel out the -6, but also add six to 3, so the equation stays balanced.)

0+y=9

your answer is  ::  y=9
